Nail Enhancement Aftercare

Whether you have full extensions or overlays applied to your natural nails, you must understand the following points to ensure the success of your newly treated nails.

  • Oil nails and cuticles regularly with cuticle oil to maintain flexibility. Enhancements that are allowed to become brittle will crack and break.
  • You must only use non-acetone nail polish remover. If you use a normal remover your enhancement will weaken.
  • Do not use your nails as tools i.e. pick or scratch at things as this puts undue pressure on the enhancement and may cause them to weaken and break.
  • Wear gloves when using harsh products e.g. detergents and cleaning products as your enhancement will become dry and brittle and more prone to breakage.
  • Do not pick your nails as they start to grow away from the cuticle area. This will encourage lifting of the enhancement away from your natural nail. If lifting is noticed do not pick or pull at the lifted area, as this will cause the lifting to increase and may damage the natural nail.
  • Do not try to do home repairs or removals. These are professional salon procedures and should never be carried out by yourself at home as this may cause serious damage to your natural nail.
  • Most importantly, you MUST return for your infills regularly and in the recommended time. If the enhancement is lifting or damaged and this is ignored, it could lead to a bacterial infection.

It is very important that you keep your maintenance appointments to keep your enhancements in good condition and looking beautiful!
